Finally finish your project in Zanzibar — goldenweeks
Show up with something unfinished. Leave with it done.
A 2-week accountability retreat for digital nomads who are ready to ship. November 1–15, 2026 · Zanzibar, Tanzania.
What is goldenweeks?
goldenweeks is a 2-week accountability retreat for digital nomads in Paje, Zanzibar (November 1–15, 2026). 8 hand-picked participants live together in a private villa near the beach, work on their own projects and benefit from structure, support and community.
This is not a typical retreat. It is not a yoga retreat, a workation or a holiday with Wi-Fi. It is built for people who actually want to get things done. You arrive with one unfinished project. You leave with real, tangible progress — a launched offer, a finished website, a streamlined service, or a clear system for building momentum long after the retreat ends.
goldenweeks is different from other digital nomad retreats in five specific ways:
- The focus: Shipping the one project you actually came with — not networking, yoga or vague inspiration that fades the day you fly home.
- The daily structure: Protected deep work every morning from 9–12, plus real accountability built in every evening. Not loose. Not optional.
- Who joins: 8 people, hand-picked through a real application. Not whoever paid first. Not 15–30 strangers with no curation.
- What you leave with: Something actually shipped, or a project moved a real step forward — not just photos, contacts and a fading high.
- The investment: €1,099 founding price for the first edition. Other comparable villa retreats charge €3,000–€6,000 with less structure.
"I built goldenweeks because I went to the other kind of retreat, came home with photos and zero progress, and decided that was never happening again." — Lakisha, Founder
Who goldenweeks is for
goldenweeks is a digital nomad retreat for people who already make a living from their laptop and have a real project they want to ship. If you want a small, ambitious group to keep you honest for two weeks, this was built for you.
goldenweeks is for you if you are one of the following:
- A remote employee with a side project, course or freelance offer you want to grow.
- A freelancer or service provider ready to build the thing that lets you charge differently.
- A founder or creator with a half-built product, podcast or course on the to-do list for too long.
- A digital nomad who already makes a living from their laptop and wants a focused, accountable group for two weeks.
goldenweeks is not for you if:
- You mainly want a workation, a yoga break or a long holiday with a bit of work.
- You don't have a specific project you actually want to ship.
- You're looking for nightlife, parties or a tourist itinerary.
- You expect to drift and skip the daily structure when you feel like it.
Why goldenweeks actually works: the 4 pillars
goldenweeks isn't a vibe. It's four things, deliberately stacked, that turn fourteen days in Zanzibar into the time you finally ship the thing you've been postponing.
-
A small, curated group.
Only eight people, hand-picked through the application. The group is the room, and the room decides whether you actually focus or drift. So we take the application seriously.
-
Protected deep work, every morning.
9 to 12 is locked for deep work — no meetings, no errands, no excuses. Group Pomodoro blocks pull the energy of the room with you. This is where most of the real shipping happens.
-
Daily public accountability.
Every evening you share what you worked on and what you actually finished. Saying it out loud, in front of ambitious peers, is the unfair advantage you don't get working alone.
-
A full environmental switch.
Zanzibar isn't an aesthetic. It's deliberate distance from your usual triggers, your usual rooms, your usual excuses. New place, new pace, no autopilot.
"I built goldenweeks as the setup I wish I had when I was the one postponing my own projects." — Lakisha
A typical day at goldenweeks
Every day follows a structured rhythm designed for maximum productivity and meaningful connections.
- Morning Power Block (9:00–12:00): Daily accountability check-ins, deep work session, group Pomodoro blocks. No meetings, no errands. This is where most of the real shipping happens.
- Afternoon Collaboration (14:00–17:00): Mastermind sessions, skill-sharing workshops, peer code reviews and feedback sessions.
- Evening Connection (18:00–20:00): Daily reflection and progress sharing, network dinners, "Wins and Struggles" rounds where each participant shares what they worked on and finished that day.
The 2-week journey

The second week is all about execution and momentum. You stay consistent, get feedback, and leave with visible progress and a clear next-step plan.

Visa information: Most nationalities need a visa to visit Tanzania. The tourist visa costs $50, covers stays of up to 90 days, and is applied for online via the official Tanzania e-Visa portal. Tanzania does not yet offer a dedicated digital nomad visa, but the standard tourist visa covers everything needed for the retreat.
Packing essentials for the goldenweeks retreat: laptop, universal travel adapter (Tanzania uses UK-style Type G plugs), noise-cancelling headphones, light breathable clothing, reef-safe sunscreen, travel insurance (required). A full packing list is sent to every confirmed guest before arrival.
About the host: Lakisha Adu
Lakisha Adu is the founder of goldenweeks Retreats. She is a digital nomad and SEO analyst from Germany who has been working remotely while traveling for years.
At some point she kept noticing the same pattern: talented people with great ideas, but stuck because they lacked structure, clarity or the right environment to actually move forward. She has been there herself — too many ideas, not enough focus or execution.
That is why she created goldenweeks Retreats: to give participants the space, accountability and community they need to finally get things done.

Frequently asked questions
Can I get a refund?
Because we only have 8 spots, every booking is a real commitment. The €200 deposit is non-refundable unless you find a replacement for your spot and we approve them. Once the final balance has been paid, all payments are non-refundable.
I don't have a specific project yet. Can I still apply?
We highly recommend coming with a project in mind, because that is what makes the retreat most valuable. If you are a founder or professional with an early idea, you can still apply and we can help you clarify your direction before the retreat begins.
What is an accountability retreat and how is it different from a regular retreat?
An accountability retreat is not a holiday and it is not a yoga retreat. It is a structured experience designed to help you make real progress on a specific project or goal in a focused group setting. At goldenweeks, every participant comes with a concrete project, commits to daily work sessions and supports each other through shared accountability. The result is a kind of momentum that is very hard to create alone.
Is Zanzibar a good destination for digital nomads?
Yes, and it is one of the most underrated remote work destinations in the world right now. Zanzibar combines warm weather year-round, a low cost of living and a fast-growing nomad community with an atmosphere that genuinely makes you want to sit down and get things done. Our retreat is based in Paje, the most reliable area on the island for remote workers, so you get the island life without sacrificing a productive workday.
How is the Wi-Fi and internet connection in Zanzibar for remote work?
Good enough for everything you need, and we make it even more reliable at goldenweeks. Average speeds across Zanzibar sit around 15 to 28 Mbps, which handles video calls and deep work sessions without issues. Our retreat location in Paje has a dedicated fiber setup with a 4G backup, so your workday is never dependent on a single connection. We also help every guest get a local SIM card on arrival for around $12, giving you a personal data backup wherever you are on the island.
Do I need a visa to visit Zanzibar and Tanzania as a remote worker?
Most nationalities need a visa, and the process is simple and fully online. You apply in advance at the official Tanzania e-Visa portal, the tourist visa costs $50 and covers stays of up to 90 days, which is more than enough for the retreat. Tanzania does not yet offer a dedicated digital nomad visa, but the standard tourist visa covers everything you need. If you are unsure about your specific nationality, just reach out and we will check together.
Can I keep working my remote job during the goldenweeks retreat?
Yes, goldenweeks is built exactly for this. You keep your job, your meetings and your usual workload, and within the retreat structure you carve out focused accountability blocks for the project or goal you actually want to move forward. Most participants work their remote job in the mornings and use the deep work sessions for their own project in the afternoons. You leave with both still running and one of them significantly further along.
What should I pack for a digital nomad retreat in Zanzibar?
For work: your laptop, a universal travel adapter (Tanzania uses UK-style Type G plugs) and noise-cancelling headphones for deep work sessions. For the island: light breathable clothing, reef-safe sunscreen, sandals and a reusable water bottle since Zanzibar is warm and humid year-round. For your health: travel insurance is required for the retreat, and we recommend bringing any personal medication since pharmacies in Paje are limited. We send every confirmed guest a full packing list before arrival so nothing gets forgotten.
